Corrines Boutique

So after years of learning how to perfect my work and making a few mistakes along the way I'm finally ready for the world to wear my Beautiful creations.

Corrines Boutique is now being sold in a lingerie boutique in Swindon called Zero to Plus. I have a collection of Edwardian inspired corsets, panties and bloomers being sold here. Honestly I haven't been happier and I'm excited about future projects that I'm currently working on.

I have just proved to myself that hard work brings results and I will definitely continue to create beautiful lingerie and corsets that will make any woman feel just as beautiful.. So if you have a dream WAKE UP and follow it. Smooches x x x

A year later

It's nearly been a whole year since I last blogged, so how about a little "anniversary" update with some pictures of some things I have done and my inspirations.

I took apart the very first corset I made, replaced the original boning, added a few trimmings here & there. I'm actually quite happy with how it looked.

Here is one of the small projects I have done for a boutique these are soo pretty & perfect for masked balls. All hand sewn. If anyone knows of anywhere I can pick up small pieces (even large) of vintage lace and silk please let me know, I will be off travelling this year so hopefully i'll pick up some beautiful fabric then.

For my fashion portfolio I designed a floral bikini and swimsuit range. I might create these for summer as I think they are stunning.

Ok so I tried these Macarons for the first time the other day & I am ADDICTED they are beautiful. I pass a shop that sells these in central London and they look so pretty so I had to try them. so so beautiful and the different flavours are amazing my favorite is the PINK one obviously.

I will definitely be eating these all summer haha

Changing a corset

I blogged about a white under-bust corset that I made, I got bored of it and wanted to change it up a little. I had some left over beads from my recycling project, so I got creative with one side of the corset, to see what it would look like if I added some chain beading.

Here's what I made.
The bead chains along with the light pink flossing looks super cute.
I only unpicked the lace off of one side of the corset. This is my experimental piece, but I will be making a waist cincher in this same style.

Finished corset

Hey I've been neglecting this blog for some time now, but I promise ill carry on blogging about all the exciting projects I have lined up.
I finished my recycling project a while ago, but just never got round to posting pictures up on here.

So here is my finished corset.

I had some left over beads, so I added them to the corset. I then stitched big fabric bows to the corset. I didn't have Alice in Wonderland in mind when making this corset, although after watching Alice in Wonderland. The beading on this corset really does have a whimsical look to it.

I am quite proud of myself, for making a corset purely out of old work trousers, left over lace and beads.

I am currently working on a cute and playful lingerie line, so I will be blogging about that soon.

Pretty lace

So I managed to sort out the skin overhang at the back of the corset, i just trimmed an inch off the top and it seems to have corrected itself.
I have been thinking about embellishment ideas and i found some spare lace, i wanted to use the lace on the sides of the corset to compliment the curves of the corset. This is what I've done so far. This lace is so pretty i just had to use it. I'm going to carefully pin the lace down and hand stitch the lace to the corset.
I'm pretty happy with this so far. Also i have used a pillow and towel to pad out the corset as my dressmakers model doesn't fill out the corset as much.

Here is the corset with both sides laced, pinned and ready for hand stitching down
Ok so i really liked the flower pattern on this lace and wanted to use it as applique on the front. So i carefully cut around flowers and swirls then stitched them onto the front of the corset.
You cant see its full potential on this last picture but its lovely, i want to add beads to this and make it really bling. Lets gooo....

Recycling pt2

Heyyy so i'm back and i am very impressed with what i've done so far and even more impressed that all the pattern pieces fitted onto the trouser legs. I even had some extra fabric from the trousers left over.

Hmm maybe i can use the waist belt and buttons as embellishment for the final piece? These are actually quite cute as just shorts.
On with the machine sewing. I was going to use boning casting, but decided halfway through to sew the bones in between the layer of coutil and fabric, as i like the look of this better.

After hours of sewing the boning castings i had a fitting and i am happy with the shape that the corset gives. In this picture I've left the edges raw and uncut, next i will be getting on with tidying up the edges and adding a hem.
I decided to leave an open V shape at the bust as i am going to add two eyelets so i can have a ribbon bow at the top.

Back View
As you can see from these fitting pictures the edges need shaping and tidying up, this fitting was purely to see what shape this corset gave me. This corset has reduced my natural waist by 2inches, I'm not ready to go any smaller yet so this is perfect for me.
In the back view i have used lacing tape, i decided to use lacing cord instead of ribbon as lace is a lot tougher. Also in this back view picture you can see skin overhang around the top of the corset. I'm not happy with this at all I'm not sure if i should take out the corset at the top seams or trim an inch off the top as it might be a bit too high. I will try both and see how it helps with the problem.

Next i will be decorating this corset and experimenting with beading and flossing, i cant wait to make this corset look really pretty.

My very own recycling project

I really love going fabric shopping to the point where i buy too much and have loads of scrap material left over, so i promised myself i wouldn't buy any more. I have a lot of corset designs that id like to create, so i thought of starting a recycling project to help me make use of all the left over fabric and more importantly to save money.
I have heard a lot of people talk about recycling clothing and turning old clothes into something new, i realized there's a lot of clothes i actually don't wear, so i decided to go through my bag of unwanted clothes. After making a big mess and sitting in a pile of clothes, i found this pair of old trousers. I haven't worn these in a while, well years lol.

I decided to stick with these trousers, not knowing if this pair of trousers would give me enough fabric for all the corset panels. I wanted to try my luck and use them anyway. I've chosen to use another laughing moon corset pattern but this time its for a Victorian 1236 - 1899 Dore straight seam over-bust corset.
I took my own measurements then traced the pattern pieces onto card. I've used card so i can re-use the pattern pieces again without the pieces getting ruined easily.
After tracing all the corset panels onto card, i placed all the boning in the right places. I've used spiral steel bones again that have already been cut to size.

Sorry about the quality of this picture, it was taken with my phone.
As i didn't want to cut into the trousers yet, i made a mock-up using calico.

I have a bad habit of rushing mock-ups so i can see if everything fits well. While rushing i made a big mistake and placed the metal busk upside down.
I didn't realize i had made this mistake with inserting the metal busk upside down until it was too late.
I had already inserted boning and finished the front piece.. Oops.
Even though i really didn't want to, i then had to unpick the whole thing and start a gain. That will teach me for rushing.
After a lot of unpicking i took my time to re-sew the mock up again. I added bones to the mock up and had a fitting. I found the corset was a bit too big in the boob area so i did some adjustments to take in the boob area by a few centimetres. I had another fitting and i felt more supported.
In my fabric bag i found some coutil, which is tightly woven herringbone twill cloth created specifically for making corsets. I'm adding this extra layer of coutil as it will add more support to the corset.

I cut out pattern pieces from the coutil and pinned them to the trousers to see if i had enough fabric from the trousers.
And to my luck they fit, this was perfect. I then cut out my panels and got stitching.

I'll post fitting pics soon.
